Work at that scale needs space, equipment and staff who use both every week. We have established a large animal experiment center in Shanghai Nanqiao Science and Technology City, which has a total area of over 4000 square meters and is fully operational since early 2023. The center is equipped with laboratories and facilities built for large animal experiments, such as large animal rooms, animal experiment support facilities, disease research departments, and clinical imaging and surgery centers. A team of large animal experiment operators and the professional equipment they run are part of the same setup.

Fixed cost is the reason large animal capacity is hard to hold. - Large animal room long-term and short-term use services, with a maximum area of 1000 square meters, including: up to 200 single cages, independent quarantine animal rooms, independent experiment operation laboratories, feeding and veterinary support services.
- Large-scale, multi-species large animal long-term breeding, veterinary and supporting experiment services: NHPs, dogs, pigs, rabbits, etc. according to your needs.
- Scarce biosafety level II (BSL-2) laboratory long-term or short-term use services for large animal and in vitro experiments.
- Animal resource batch purchase services: NHPs, dogs, pigs, rabbits, etc. according to your needs; sourcing arrangements are described under Nonhuman Primate Resources.
- Independent external technical staff work area and technical operation assistance services: large animal operations, in vitro experiments.
- Independent new medical device, new material demonstration and display area: instrument equipment development, demonstration, training.
- Center shared platform supporting technical services: large animal imaging scanning (Clinical Imaging, MRI etc.), large animal high-level surgical operation and demonstration (sterile surgery etc.), biological sample testing analysis (blood test etc.).
- Professional disease research supporting technical services: respiratory system diseases, metabolic diseases, cardiovascular diseases, central nervous system diseases, ophthalmic diseases, drawing on the NHP(monkey) Disease Models used in these programs.

Our animal rooms are managed by professional teams that provide feeding and advanced veterinary care. Our engineering technology, cleaning, logistics and general affairs staff are resourced to match. Animal safety, welfare and health are managed so that partners can concentrate on the scientific question.
Documentation is part of that discipline. A surgical or imaging procedure only becomes reusable data when the anesthesia record, the operative note and the recovery observations match the protocol, and that habit is easier to keep in a facility built for large animals than in a room adapted from another purpose.
