Product Introduction

Renal ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) is a debilitating condition that arises from the sudden, temporary impairment of blood flow to the kidney. This ischemic insult often leads to a robust inflammatory and oxidative stress response to hypoxia and reperfusion, which can significantly disturb the organ function.

Renal IR induced acute kidney injury (AKI) is a complex clinical disorder that is associated with severe morbidity and mortality. If the injury is severe and/or repair is incomplete, AKI can lead to chronic kidney disease (CKD). As such, the development of an efficient and reliable animal model for the study of renal IRI and AKI is paramount.

The renal IR NHP model of Prisys Biotechnologies utilizes ischemia/reperfusion techniques to induce kidney injury that closely mimics the human condition. This model offers several clinical endpoints, including renal function measurements (such as Crea and Urea), biomarker analysis (such as NGAL and Cys-C), and tissue histopathology. These endpoints provide valuable insight into the physiological and pathological processes that contribute to renal IRI and AKI, making the Prisys Biotechnologies renal IR model a valuable tool for studying these debilitating conditions.
